Reviews
FOOD: All the food we ordered tasted great. My only complaint is I feel it is slightly over priced compared to what you get.
DRINKS: I got the ipso facto which was a great take on an old fashioned but also slightly overpriced. My wife got wine and noticed that the pour she received was less than a nearby table received. I guess it all depends on your server in regards to this.
SERVICE: Service was just OK, there were times we waited over 5 minutes for our server to come around. They were friendly and informative though.
ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant itself is decorated great, love the location. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable and where we were seated, one of us directly faced the sun. They did have curtains but they were not thick enough to block the sun. You'd think for this particular table they would've put thicker curtains or resolved this seemingly known issue for as long as they've been open.
Bottom line if you don't care about price or the other issues I mentioned, the food is great and I'd recommend it. I feel as if other places like The Fig Tree in Charlotte offer an overall better experience for a similar price.
...I only have 2 pictures..because the food was eaten so quickly!
The parking is a problem, good luck! However, the silver lining is that after the walk from that street you don't remember the name of --you get to eat at Kindred!!
The staff was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the dishes, they offer recommendations. We ordered 5 dishes to share with 5 people...everyone tasted everything and no one left the table hungry..
The food is locally sourced, the feel is just a SYMPHONY OF FLAVOR in your mouth.. don't go here to simply eat....go here to SAVOR!
Really enjoyable dinner from start to finish. Our meal was exceptional. Riley provided great service, and we loved the atmosphere. Big fans
EXCELLENT experience! I made a reservation for our party of seven to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. Half of us had been to Kindred before while the other half experienced our first visit. The customer service is top notch - from the hostesses to the wait staff. The FOOD is absolutely incredible. We can’t wait to go back!
I first went to Kindred years ago in 2016 when Joe was recognized as a James Beard finalist and have been returning (& bringing friends to share) in the wonderful dining experience multiple times since. The food is always delicious with a menu that changes every few weeks, while staples like the pickles, some raw dish, the duck fat potatoes, and various handmade pastas make the menu. The milkbread buns served as table bread is perfectly soft and salty, and the deserts (cinnamon rolls & bread pudding made from the milkbread) are amazing. Cocktails and wine options are fresh and pair wonderfully. The service is topnotch. I am never let down by the intriguing dishes or amazing ambience found here. OH and the bathroom is very tastefully decorated with nice touches like mints and hair pins. (The state of the bathrooms make or break a restaurant review). Joe, Katy, and staff-- thanks as always & keep being incredible!
Thank you Kindred for making our friend’s 40th birthday memorable. We had a party of 11. Parking on the street was super easy even during peak hours. The service was great. They recommended a sampling menu for the table. The food was amazing and they accommodated food restrictions/allergies. We couldn’t finish the menu because we were too full. Some reviews say that the portions were small but this is a menu designed to be sampled. I thought the prices were very reasonable. They were able to split the tickets with our respective drinks without any mistake. That’s rare with large parties. We were sitting upstairs. My only recommendation would be to add shades to the windows, because when the street lights come on, they will be bright!
Kindred is a great place to grab a bite in the Davidson area. We have eaten here several times including brunch & dinner and enjoy the food and atmosphere. The complimentary bread is delicious, with a salted crust on the outside & warm and fluffy on the inside. The “little gem lettuce” salad was a generous portion with fresh strawberries and a tasty light vinaigrette dressing. The duck fat potatoes were delicious. The squid ink conchliglie slightly missed the mark for me. I imagine someone with more refined tastes would appreciate it, but I didn’t care too much for the black salty pasta. We happened to be seated on the patio which was very pleasant until a downpour interrupted our evening. The staff did everything within their power to keep us comfortable by offering blankets and umbrellas. All in all it was a memorable experience for more reasons than one.
The restaurant is good atmosphere but food kind of slow. Seem like it always busy here. This also pricey for me, food in small portion (if compare with price). Service is not impressed me at all. But this is just for me.
